3. Can Davidson still finish in the top-3 of the A-10?

Davidson can absolutely finish in the top 3 of the A10. One thing that’s important to remember about Bob McKillop-coached teams is that because his system is so complicated, it can take a while for offenses to find a rhythm. Yes, they lost to some bad teams early on, but they’re currently on a three-game win streak with solid road victories over Northeastern and Loyola-Chicago. Barring health issues, I think they’ll only continue to trend upward.

Sure. Very confident-sounding huh? Certainly, Davidson hasn’t completely fallen apart (that 13-point loss to Charlotte (Kenpom: 168) looks worse and worse though) but they only have so much time to turn it around. This team has plenty of talent but has failed to put it together into a signature win or even a win streak longer than three games. I am mostly saying they have a chance because of their talent and preseason expectations, but they will be on very thin ice throughout A-10 conference play.

The Davidson team we’ve seen so far? Nope. Depth is really an issue right now, especially inside. I think Davidson can turn it around but they just aren’t close to Dayton, VCU, or SLU in terms of being on that same tier.

The Davidson Wildcats will not finish in the top-3 of the A10. To start off the top two spots are most likely going to Dayton and VCU in that order, leaving only one spot left in the top-3. The Davidson Wildcats has been the most disappointing team in the entire A10 throughout the non-conference part of the season as they were projected to be the top contenders to VCU but instead have gone 6-6 losing to teams such as Charlotte, Vanderbilt, and Wake Forrest.
There is no way I see a team that loses to those teams finish with a record in conference play good enough to crack the top-3. If I was to choose who’d be in third place by season’s end it’ll be the Rhode Island Rams because of their stronger non-conference performance, which includes beating Alabama and Providence and losing close at West Virginia.
