1. Limit the turnovers

Juwan Howard has wanted his team to play at a faster pace and they have this year. Unfortunately, it has led to the Wolverines turning the ball over more than they are used to. They are turning the ball over almost four more times a game.

This is something that the Wolverines have got to fix heading into conference play. They have been able to make up for it with their defense and shooting, but the games they have struggled is when they didn’t shoot the ball well and the turnovers have bit them.

It all starts with Zavier Simpson. Last year he averaged just two turnovers a game and this year almost four. While that isn’t a ton it is something the Wolverine isn’t used to. He is taking more chances and a lot of them haven’t worked out well. He needs to slow the game down at times and take what is there. When he does that he is one of the best passers in the country and can control the game.

If the Wolverines can keep their turnovers under ten they should be right in this game with a chance to win. But if they are up near 15 for the game they are going to struggle to keep the fast-paced Spartans offense from going on runs.
