Which Junior College transfers have had the biggest impact so far this NCAA Basketball season? Here is a list from the 2019 class.
Traditional transfers have grown exponentially recently throughout NCAA Basketball, reaching as high as 1,000 players switching teams. But this offseason showed a major flaw in the system, with a number of players getting waivers to play this season rather than sitting out. It has caused confusion and outrage as to who gets to play or who has to wait a year. However, Junior College transfers never have to worry about that kind of issue.
That’s because all JUCO transfers cleared to play D-I hoops are automatically eligible to play for their respective programs. And many of them have a significant impact when on the court. I previously created a list of players from the 2019 class that I was high on most. Injuries have affected some of them such as Nevada’s Eric Parrish and James Rosas of Alabama but there have been several under the radar in the mid-major world.
For this piece, I’ll be taking a look at which Junior College transfers have had the biggest impact overall on the NCAA Basketball season, including some honorable mentions. It also should be acknowledged that many JUCOs from the smaller schools at this point and time don’t have great stats. Not because they aren’t good but that they’ve been facing vastly superior competition as part of “buy” games through the non-conference. So look out for some players from the MEAC, SWAC and others to start emerging going forward.
