Texas Tech Basketball has a huge road game this weekend at West Virginia. What are the keys for the Red Raiders to get the win?

After a three-game losing streak that had some questioning how good Texas Tech Basketball would be this season, the reigning national runner-up responded with five straight victories, including over then No. 1 Louisville and Oklahoma State in the opener of Big 12 play.

Unfortunately for the Red Raiders, that momentum came to a halt earlier this week in a close loss to No. 4 Baylor. The final score was 57-52, with Texas Tech 10-4 (1-1) shooting just 37% from the field. Freshman Jahmi’us Ramsey did his part with 20 points on the night but only Kyler Edwards (10 points) joining him in reaching double figures. The most notable takeaway was head coach Chris Beard playing just six guys more than three minutes in the game.

They may have to change some things against their next opponent, the West Virginia Mountaineers 12-2 (1-1). Bob Huggins’ squad also has an early Big 12 loss, falling at No. 3 Kansas last Saturday by seven points. But the Mountaineers rebounded to beat Oklahoma State earlier this week, winning by a final margin of 55-41. Oscar Tshiebwe tied for a game-high with 12 points, while the team held the Cowboys to just 29% from the field and 1/20 from three-point range.

While Kansas and Baylor are considered the favorites to finish 1 and 2 in the Big 12 standings this season, both the Mountaineers and Red Raiders will have something to say about it. But the loser of this game will already be two games behind after this weekend. Here are the keys to Texas Tech to making sure that it won’t be them.
