Baylor Basketball completes an impressive Big 12 road sweep this week. What are some takeaways from the Bears performance?

Arguably the most anticipated matchup this weekend came from the Big 12, with Baylor Basketball and Kansas facing off in a battle of top-5 ranked programs. With the game in Allen Fieldhouse, the Jayhawks were the favorites on paper. But like the previous 12 opponents, the Bears took care, what mattered was the on the court results.

It was an even matchup in the first 10 minutes, with both teams trading punches. But Baylor landed a devastating haymaker, going on 22-4 to close out the first half with a double-digit lead. Kansas did make a couple of runs to get the game tight in the second half but Scott Drew and the Bears never let go of the lead, ultimately winning 67-55.

It was a great performance on both ends of the court for Baylor 13-1 (3-0), outscoring Kansas 65-32 from the starters and forced 14 turnovers in the win. An injury to Jayhawks star point guard Devon Dotson was a factor in this game but outside of reserve wing Isaiah Moss (15 points) and Marcus Garrett (11), no other player for Kansas reached double figures.

This was the second straight road win against a ranked Big 12 opponent, beating No. 22 Texas Tech, 57-52. It’s the 12th straight victory overall for the Bears and depending on how voters feel, could rise all the way to No. 1 overall in the upcoming AP top-25 poll. But how is this team doing so well? Here’s a look at my biggest takeaways for Baylor from this game and their rise to the top.
