USC Basketball: 2019-20 takeaways from road win over UCLA
By Andy Patton
USC Basketball earned a win over the UCLA Bruins on Saturday, 74-63. Here are three takeaways for Trojan fans after the narrow victory.
USC Basketball redeemed themselves after a hideous 72-40 loss to the University of Washington, beating their longtime rival UCLA on Saturday night, 74-63.
The Trojans built a lead and never relented, although swarming pressure by UCLA helped keep the game somewhat close. If the Bruins found a way to shoot better than 38.6 percent from the field (and 25 percent from beyond the arc) they probably would have stolen a victory, but as it stands USC moves to 13-3 while UCLA falls to 8-8.
It was a rather odd game from the Trojans, who got virtually no production from star big man Onyeka Okongwu, while reserve wings Daniel Utomi and Ethan Anderson had big games.
And while most of the attention was on the antics of broadcaster Bill Walton, who put peanut butter on a camera lens and helped clean it up minutes later by licking it (seriously), there was still plenty for USC fans to take away from this game, some of it good and some of it reaffirming some of the concerns that could plague this team in March and lead to an early exit in the NCAA tournament.
