Duke Basketball is in the driver’s seat in the ACC and this was prior to Saturday’s win over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Duke basketball now sits at 5-0 in the ACC after a dominating 90-59 win at Cameron Indoor.

Many sportsbooks had Duke basketball favored by as much as 19.5 points but their dominance was much greater. Coach K went with another starting lineup change in this one, inserting junior Jordan Goldwire into the starting lineup to get some additional defense and secondary playmaking on the floor.

The rest of the starting lineup was the status quo, with freshman Matthew Hurt and Vernon Carey Jr. manning the paint and Tre Jones and Cassius Stanley holding down the perimeter. Duke dominated this one early and they did it in style as they rocked Duke’s new alternate unis celebrating 40 years of Coach K with the Blue Devils.

Duke knew that while they are a great defensive team, they were going to need to be especially disciplined against a Wake Forest squad that is first in the ACC in free throw attempts.

Just like the Georgia Tech game, Duke took a big lead into the half on Saturday. But unlike the Georgia Tech game, Duke didn’t allow the Wake Forest to put together any sort of consistent comeback effort down the stretch.

Saturday’s results send Wake Forest into a three-way tie with Notre Dame and North Carolina (!!) for last place in the ACC and as mentioned previously, keeps Duke undefeated in the conference and above surging Florida State, winners of seven-straight games.  As we await Duke looking to continue their streak of blowout wins going on Tuesday at Clemson, let’s take a look back at what led to their wire-to-wire win over Wake Forest.
