Florida basketball can pick up a marquee win at home against Auburn. Here are the three biggest keys to the game for the Gators.
Florida basketball has been in need of a signature win this season given their struggles compared to preseason expectations, and this weekend’s home showdown against Auburn gives the Gators that opportunity.
Auburn is coming off their first loss of the season, so Florida won’t have the chance to be the first team to beat the Tigers, but it’s still a golden opportunity to beat a top 10 team, especially considering that Auburn is going through their toughest stretch of the season.
While the Tigers obviously want to get back in the win column, this game is vitally important for Florida. They only have one win against a KenPom top 50 team all season and have an 0-3 record in Quadrant 1 games. As they drift closer to the bubble, picking up the marquee victory their resume lacks will go a long way.
The Gators have not lost a home game since that disappointing defeat to Florida State on November 10 and have won four of their last five games overall (including a comeback victory over the Alabama team that just beat Auburn), so they do have some momentum.
What do they have to do to pull off the upset and beat the Tigers? Here are the three biggest keys to the game for Florida.
