Big Ten Basketball: Lamar Stevens

Lamar Stevens playing well

Lamar Stevens has had trouble staying on the court throughout this year’s Big Ten slate of games. In my last article, I asked how many times Mr. Stevens had four or more fouls. The answer was 4 out of 6 games. After the Ohio State game, that can be updated to 5 of 7. The difference in the last game was that Stevens didn’t foul out. He played within himself with four fouls and he brought the Bryce Jordan crowd to their feet with this exclamation point.

For the Nittany Lions to have a chance to snatch a road win in the Big Ten Conference this year, Stevens needs to play a full game. Against Ohio State, he played 22 minutes. Against Minnesota, he played 28 minutes. If Lamar can be on the court a full 35 minutes or more he may just inch his way up the scoring leader standings.

In conclusion, Penn State needs solid offensive and defensive efforts from their big men and timely long-range shooting from their guards and small forwards. If Penn State plays up to their potential, they can beat anybody, anywhere. Including Michigan.
