Syracuse Basketball took down Pittsburgh, Saturday afternoon in a game that saw them get their fifth straight win. Here are the main takeaways for the Orange.

The Syracuse Orange’s season didn’t begin exactly how they wanted it to. Finding themselves playing .500 basketball after the first ten games of the year, the season was looking pretty much like a write-off. Another ten games down the line, in which the Orange went 8-2, here we are. Syracuse Basketball’s seemingly catastrophic season has down a complete three-sixty and is now looking ever-so bright.

Saturday afternoon saw the Orange pick up their fifth straight win with a 69-61 victory over the Pittsburgh Panthers. It wasn’t the most dominant performance by any means, but there were many periods of the game where the Orange looked like an extremely strong outfit, like there have been over the last month. This win saw the Orange improve to 13-7 on the season. What is even more impressive is their conference record of 6-3.

At this moment in time, however temporary it may be, ‘Cuse is behind just Louisville, Florida State and Duke – three of the best teams in the nation – in the ACC standings. This doesn’t mean much right now, but after such a questionable first couple of months to the season, it shows that this Orange team is beginning to come together and play winning basketball and that their season is far from over.

If Jim Boeheim‘s side can keep grinding out results against conference rivals – especially those of higher caliber – then there’s a chance that this side could end the season with a very credible resume and, if they can be even more consistent as doing what they are currently, they could potentially make some noise come the time for tournament teams to be announced.
