Our most recent bracketology update follows a tumultuous weekend in which many highly-regarded teams dropped games. All four No. 1 seeds stayed put, though.

Well, well, well. Just when I thought I was starting to get a grip on this season and where teams deserve to be slotted in terms of bracketology, this past weekend occurred and everything was thrown out of sorts. Thankfully, my No. 1 seeds of Baylor, Kansas, San Diego State, and Gonzaga all held serve to remain on that top line but they were essentially the only highly-regarded teams that avoided upsets.

Absolute chaos ensued outside of the top line over the past few days and that resulted in several shifts in the projected field. To provide a brief summary, here is a list of teams included in my bracketology from Friday that suffered losses over the following three days: Michigan State, Rutgers, Oregon, Houston, Alabama, USC, Kentucky, Villanova, St. Mary’s, Wichita State, Indiana, Texas Tech, Seton Hall, Butler, and Illinois.

All of these games also had major impacts on the rest of the field due to shifts in the NET (leading to quadrant record changes).

With that said, I did a complete re-scrub of my seed lists heading into this most recent update so there are a few more radical shifts from my Friday update as a result. For the most part, though, teams stayed within a seed line of where they were a few days ago. There were a few that jumped or dropped a bit more than you would usually expect, but not too many.

Now, without any further ado, let’s dive into the update to my bracketology projected field through games played on Feb. 3rd.
