Best Performance, Individual – Jermaine Marrow, Hampton

On Saturday, Jermaine Marrow dropped 31 points (thanks to a stellar 17-20 free throw mark), seven rebounds, eight assists, and one steal to lead Hampton to an 87-81 overtime victory over Presbyterian. It was arguably the best stat line of the year for a guy who has been putting up great lines for four seasons at Hampton.

On the season, Marrow has six 30-point games, 12 20-point games, has dished out five or more assists 12 times, and has grabbed at least five rebounds in each of his last three games despite being a 6-0 guard. Morrow does it all for Hampton.

The win was key for the Pirates, who are trying to stay at .500 in conference play, and in the long run, are trying to avoid Winthrop and Radford until late in the Big South Tournament. Morrow, who broke the program’s all-time scoring record last season, now has his sites on playing in the NCAA Tournament for the first time. It will be a monumental task to knock off Winthrop, currently undefeated in the Big South, but if Morrow can get extra hot in March it’s not completely out of the question.
