Maryland Basketball is the hottest team in the Big Ten right now, having won six straight games entering Tuesday’s contest with Nebraska. Can the Terps avoid a huge letdown and remain undefeated at home?

After one of the biggest wins of the Mark Turgeon era coming on the road against No. 20 Illinois this past Friday, Maryland Basketball is in sole possession of first place in the Big Ten.

For the Terps, it was their first road victory over a top 20 team since 2008, and arguably one of the biggest wins they have had since joining the Big Ten in the 2014-15 season.

And for head coach Mark Turgeon it was a huge sigh of relief. Maryland had won only one road game against a ranked opponent during his tenure prior to Friday’s victory, improving to still an abysmal record of 2-19.

Maryland (19-4, 9-3) will welcome the struggling Nebraska Cornhuskers (7-16, 2-10) into the Xfinity Center on Tuesday night, hoping to avoid a major letdown and extend their home winning streak to 14.

After the release of this week’s AP Poll, not much has changed in the top 10. With every team in front of them winning, Maryland stays at #9 for the second straight week. With a College Gameday appearance looming next Saturday in East Lansing, the Terps will need to handle their business before they can get too excited.

The last time Maryland was in first place of their conference this late in the season? The 2002 National Championship season. There is some excitement brewing in College Park. Here are three keys for them to defeat Nebraska and maintain a firm grip on first place in the Big Ten.
