The No.9 Maryland Terrapins have been on a roll as the 2019-20 regular season is winding down and their run has put them in the Big Ten’s top spot. Nebraska, on the other hand, has lost eight in a row.

Anthony Cowan Jr. and Jalen Smith have been outstanding during this run. Cowan Jr. put up another 20 point performance in the Illinois win which cracked the top ten in career points for Maryland. He has proven why he is deserving of all the accolades and praise he has received. Whether it has been taking over games in the last five minutes, pushing the ball down the floor in transition or draining a three-pointer that leads to an eruption from the Xfinity Center crowd, he has led this team with passion and purpose.

Smith has been a double-double machine in the frontcourt. He has taken a big leap in terms of his on-court production from year one to year two. He’s averaging 15 points, 10 rebounds and 2.4 blocks this season. His play has landed him in the top ten for the Karl Malone Award which recognizes college basketball’s best power forward.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers are desperate for a win and this could end up being a trap game for the Terps if they’re not careful. They can’t get caught looking ahead to Michigan State on Saturday at the Breslin Center.

The bright spot for the Cornhuskers in the eight-game losing streak has been the play of sophomore guard Cam Mack. He has led them in scoring in four out of the last eight games and his highest point total came against South Dakota State (24 points).

If Nebraska plays fast and physical, it’s possible that they could get an upset. The Terps are undefeated at home, however, so I think the Cornhuskers pulling out a win will be difficult.
