2020-21 Incoming Freshmen
Once again Duke has one of the best incoming freshmen classes in the nation, something we are used to seeing in Durham. However, this year the Blue Devils are ranked second, as opposed to their typical number one ranking, but don’t let that take away from the stellar incoming class.
Duke’s recruiting class for the Class of 2020 includes the following:
- Jalen Johnson (#15 in ESPN’s Top-100)
- Jeremy Roach (#18 in ESPN’s Top-100)
- D.J. Steward (#23 in ESPN’s Top-100)
- Jaemyn Brakefield (#24 in ESPN’s Top-100)
- Mark Williams (#28 in ESPN’s Top-100)
- Henry Coleman III (#50 in ESPN’s Top-100)
All six players committed to Duke from the Class of 2020 are ranked in the Top-50 of ESPN’s Top-100. That is very, very impressive and adding each of these to the team Duke already has will make for a very scary team.
Not only does Duke have six players in the Top-50, but these six players also cover each of the five positions with Brakefield and Coleman being the only two who play the same position, power forward.
Of the six, only Roach, Steward and Williams will be suiting up as part of the McDonald’s All-American Game. Brakefield got snubbed and Johnson wasn’t eligible due to the fact that he transferred away from IMG and was not on a high school basketball team at the time.
Nonetheless, we will have the opportunity to watch Roach, Steward and Williams all suit up in Houston. Many hope to see all three on the same team, but more specifically, Roach and Steward as the two will make up a star-studded backcourt during the 2020-21 season.
That is something we will have to wait on to find out about, but nonetheless, the recruiting class for the Class of 2020 is a scary one and the Blue Devils are in a great position.
