Duke Blue Devils

2019-20 record: 22-3 (12-2 in ACC)

It was a great week for the Blue Devils, thanks to what both they and Louisville did this week. Starting with Duke’s actions, they handled a Notre Dame squad at home who could really use a Quad 1 win for their own resume. Coach K’s team was having none of it, winning 94-60.

It was the previous game that mattered for Duke, taking on Florida State who is right up there with them in both the ACC standings and overall Bracketology. It was a close and hard-fought contest for all 40 minutes but the Blue Devils prevailed 70-65. There aren’t many opportunities in the ACC for games like this, so taking care of business at home is a must for a team looking for a top-2 seed in the Big Dance.

What helped the Blue Devils just as much as the awful performances by Louisville this week, getting blown out by both Clemson and Georgia Tech on the road, two teams that aren’t even on the bubble. Not only does it give Duke a one-game lead in the loss column of the ACC regular-season championship, but they also have the schedule advantage the rest of the way. While Louisville and Florida State still have to play each other, the Blue Devils don’t play either the rest of the way. And with Jordan Nwora’s struggles giving Vernon Carey Jr. the lead in the Conference Player of the Year race, everything went right for Duke in the past several days.
