Bracketology Projected Field: Kansas-Baylor headlines a huge weekend
South Region (Houston, TX)

(8) Rhode Island vs. (9) Saint Mary’s
(4) Kentucky vs. (13) North Texas
(5) Arizona vs. (12) Liberty
(6) Iowa vs. (11) East Tennessee State
(3) Villanova vs. (14) Hofstra
(7) Illinois vs. (10) Arizona State
(2) Duke vs. (15) South Dakota State
Kentucky has won five consecutive games as it is moving into strong positioning with regard to NCAA Tournament seeding. It feel as though the Wildcats are starting to hit their stride on both ends of the floor while moving out to 21-5 (11-2 SEC) on the season. The loss to Evansville is still a black mark on their resume and they do not have great metrics, either. With that said, though, Kentucky is 6-3 in Q1 games with four “elite” wins. This is a team that is in great shape moving forward and will finish the regular season with three of five at home.
Moving further down the region, East Tennessee State has emerged as a legitimate at-large contender over the past couple of weeks. The Buccaneers have won six straight games (and 11 of 12) to move onto the right side of my projected cutline. They are the best team in an underrated Southern Conference and are well-balanced on both ends of the floor. ETSU’s margin for error is fairly slim but could dance even if it loses in the SoCon Tournament with a strong close.
