LSU is a team that has been struggling to maintain a solid seed over the past few weeks. The Tigers have lost four of their last five games as their porous defense is starting to be exposed. LSU should still easily make the NCAA Tournament but is trending in the right direction. Back-to-back road games against South Carolina and Florida loom during this coming week as well so the schedule is not getting any easier. LSU could keep sliding with three of its final five games coming away from home. Fixing their defensive holes will be the big key.

With regard to auto-bid teams, Vermont is emerging as potentially that very dangerous 12/13 seed that nobody wants to draw in March. The Catamounts had high expectations heading into this campaign and they have lived up to that in conference play. Anthony Lamb is having a bit of a down season but he is still one of the best mid-major players in the entire country. Additionally, Vermont is an elite defensive squad that absolutely stifles opponents in the paint and rebounds exceptionally well. Vermont has won 12 straight games.
