Wichita State basketball will take their pursuit of a spot on the right side of the bubble to Cincinnati on Sunday.

A 2-5 run in the middle of their conference schedule, which included a loss at home against Cincinnati, took Wichita State Basketball from the top 25 to fighting just to keep themselves in the NCAA tournament field. They’ve won their last 3 since those struggles to pull themselves back into a tie for 4th place in the conference, but they still have a lot of work to do. Wichita State is currently a combined 0-4 against the five teams they will close the season out against (and haven’t played SMU yet). They need this win over Cincinnati both to keep themselves in a strong spot for the AAC tournament and to keep their NCAA tournament hopes alive.

Cincinnati has also recently suffered some hits to their chances to make it into the NCAA tournament field. After winning consecutive games against SMU, Houston, and the Shockers, Cincinnati has taken a couple of major hits to their resume over the last two weeks. They’ve gone    2-2 in their last four games, including a home loss to UCF in their most recent game.

Now they’ll need to get a 2nd win over Wichita State to keep themselves on the right side of the bubble and potentially just to keep their tournament hopes alive. A win over the Shockers would also keep Cincy in contention for the regular season AAC title as they are currently just one game behind Houston for 1st place.

Sunday morning’s game in Cincinnati has major implications for the AAC conference and for the NCAA tournament bubble and if it’s anything like the first meeting between these two teams, it will deliver fireworks. Here are the keys for Wichita State to win this important matchup.
