With just two weeks remaining in the regular season for AAC Basketball, there’s very little certainty about any of the teams at the top. The automatic bid remains as wide open as can be. How are teams tournament hopes looking?

Houston and Cincinnati currently sit atop the AAC Basketball standings at 11-4 in conference play through 15 games. Houston was ranked #25 this past Monday in the AP poll and was the only team in the conference to be receiving votes in the February 24th release.

The Cougars currently sit as a 7 seed on BracketMatrix.com which is also the highest of any of the AAC teams. Houston definitely still has some work to do to secure that at large bid from the committee but the Cougars are definitely in the best position of their conference rivals.

Wichita State has probably struggled more in conference play than a lot of people thought they would but they’re still in the field as of right now. At 8-6 there is work to do for the Shockers as they are a 10 seed in the field.

Cincinnati didn’t get off to the best of starts this season but are starting to come along as the Bearcats try and extend their streak to 10 straight NCAA Tournament appearances. Like Wichita, there is certainly a lot to be done as the Bearcats sit at an 11 seed and are not included in everyone’s field.

Memphis is on the outside looking in with the most work to do for securing an at large bid. They no doubt have to win out the regular season will need a deep run in the AAC tournament and in all likely hood need some outside help. They are currently in the next four out and are looking like a long shot for the at large bid.
