SoCon Basketball: Furman, UNCG, ETSU at top in latest power rankings

As the SoCon Basketball regular season is winding down, let’s take a look at the league’s current power rankings.

Just until a couple of years ago, SoCon Basketball was not given the respect it deserved, and at times, it went entirely unnoticed. Thanks to great individual talents, commendable NCAA Tournament performances, and the overall competitive nature of the teams at the top, things have changed lately.

The SoCon is no longer a mid-major league worth forgetting. The battle for conference supremacy is just as tough in this league as in any other, and this year is excellent proof of that fact.

At this point last season, it was pretty clear that Wofford would run away with the SoCon crown and represent the conference in the NCAA Tournament, and that is exactly what happened. Now, it is very difficult to select a favorite from the talented group of teams that sit almost neck and neck at the top.

With that, fans of SoCon Basketball better buckle up and get ready for a highly competitive and exciting race to the finish over the next few weeks. ETSU, Furman, and UNCG are each capable of rising above the rest, but despite the fact that each is worthy of an NCAA Tournament bid, it will most likely be just one of them that gets the chance.

The current power rankings for the league were rather easy to determine, but they do not say much heading forward from here. The Top 3 seems to be cemented, but the other teams in the league should not be forgotten.

There are plenty of talented individuals that can step up and alter the entire league on their own, allowing their team to make an unexpected run when the SoCon Basketball Tournament rolls around.

With the current dynamic of the league in mind, let’s reveal the SoCon Basketball power rankings and watch closely to see how things play out in March!
