Big 12 Basketball has been as jumbled up as expected, however, as March begins, there is finally some semblance of order within the conference.
As we head into the final week of conference play in Big 12 Basketball, little is certain past the top-two teams.
Ever since the beginning of conference play, it has been clear that Kansas and Baylor, in any order, are the top-two teams in the league. As of right now, everything else is to be determined.
For a while, it looked like West Virginia was the clear third team. However, after a three-game losing streak to TCU, Texas, and Oklahoma, the Mountaineers might be playing on the first day of the Big 12 Tournament.
What about the reigning National runner-up Texas Tech Red Raiders? The Red Raiders dropped games to Oklahoma and Texas this week, and are in danger of falling onto the bubble.
The maximum number of Big 12 teams in the tournament, barring a shocking run by a lower seed in the conference tournament, will be no more than six—Kansas, Baylor, West Virginia, Texas Tech, and perhaps Oklahoma and Texas.
There is still a good deal of basketball left to be played. Every team has two more games this week, followed by the Big 12 Tournament, which will begin on Wednesday.
