Notable Movers: Virginia and Providence.

Virginia has 100% been playing its best basketball of the season over the past few weeks. After falling completely out of most projected fields around midseason, the Cavaliers have picked up their game to the point of currently holding a single-digit seed in this field. This excellent string of performances continued during this past weekend as head coach Tony Bennett’s team defended its home court against Duke. Virginia has now won six straight and nine of its last 10 (only loss coming at Louisville).

Speaking of teams that nobody wants to see right now, Providence has been absolutely rolling as well. Even though the Friars struggled mightily during the non-conference portion of their schedule, they have caught fire in the Big East season to move onto the right side of the projected cutline. Most notably, this team has won four in a row and six of its last eight. It has defeated the likes of Butler (away), Creighton (home), Seton Hall (home), Marquette (home), and Villanova (away) during this stretch. Providence is 11-8 in Q1+2 games for the season now.
