Busting Brackets projects the all-Big East Basketball first, second, and freshman teams ahead of the conference’s final weekend of regular-season action.

While the Big East Basketball conference title will come down to the final weekend, we are still able to get a head start on the all-conference team honors.

Seven of the 13 players selected to the all-conference first- and second-teams last season (including two honorable mentions) are no longer in the conference, opening the door for some new blood to grab a spot. With the week-to-week chaos that has characterized the Big East this season – struggles from Marquette and Butler, hot streaks from Creighton and Providence – it’s only fitting that 8 of the 10 teams are represented in the below projections.

More from Big East

The 2018-19 freshman team (six players) was frankly loaded, and while only two representatives made the leap onto my first or second teams, three of the other four have since transferred, and the fourth (Mac McClung) was injured for large parts of conference play.

The crop of 2019-20 freshmen was not nearly as impressive, but with some current stars either graduating or jetting off to the NBA, opportunities for larger roles will exist next season for the next generation. The lack of obvious superstars from the start will also make predicting the conference much tougher in 2020-21, but that’s just part of the fun.

But that discussion is for another day; we can kick around next season’s projections during the long summer. For now, we still have some actual Big East hoops to analyze. Here are the predictions for the 2019-20 all-conference first, second, and freshman teams.
