Richmond Spiders

There have been a few teams vying for that second spot in the Atlantic 10 and most likely to get an at-large bid after Dayton. Saint Louis, VCU and Rhode Island at one point had good enough resumes but the conference proved to be too tough for all of them, giving those programs too many losses and dropping them down. Maybe Rhode Island can get to the finals and have a shot at a bid but there’s a real possibility that only Dayton gets in from the league.

The team that has emerged as the best chance for a multi-bid A-10 is Richmond, currently on a four-game winning streak to end the regular season. They have a top-40 NET, just one bad loss on the season (Radford) and avoiding losing to any of the bottom-tier teams in the Atlantic 10. The Spiders were also celebrating Wisconsin winning the Big Ten regular-season since the Badgers are their best resume win.

The Spiders are currently one of the Last 4 in for our updated Bracketology and have earned a double-bye and the 2 seed in the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament. Is it possible that they can make the Big Dance if they lose to anyone not named Dayton? That’ll be a tough task. But the developments that have happened so far certainly gives them a better shot than the others in this league.
