Gonzaga Basketball: Making or breaking Bulldogs march to the Final Four
Mark Few and Gonzaga Basketball added the West Coast Conference (WCC) Tournament Championship to their already impressive 30-2 overall record and 15-1 WCC regular-season title.
If this is your first time visiting “Making or breaking” it is designed to help you fill out your bracket when you get to the Sweet Sixteen and you just do not know what team to pick. It is straight to the point analysis of the particular strengths and weaknesses of a team that will decide if they march on to the Final Four in Atlanta. As a sweetener, there will even be a couple of teams indicated that match up well against our team of interest and potentially break them.
Defining a contender: The term contender is a subjective term. In order to avoid any bias, The Associated Press College Basketball (AP) poll and the NCAA Men’s NET Rankings (NET) will be used to decide if a team is a contender or not. With that disclaimer established, let us explore how Gonzaga Basketball is going to make it to the Final Four.
Just once in the last 20 years has Gonzaga not finished with at least a share of the WCC regular-season title. Without a doubt, Gonzaga has dominated the WCC since 1998, but it has not always transferred into Division I National Tournament success.
Despite all the accolades and career wins, Mark Few has led the Bulldogs to two Elite 8’s and 1 National Title game. In this edition of ‘making or breaking’ we will address Gonzaga and what they need to do to get back to the Final Four in Atlanta and explore what might prevent them.
