Gonzaga Basketball: Making or breaking Bulldogs march to the Final Four
Hitting from three and taking care of the ball
Despite who you play or where you play them, the three-point line is the same distance and if you can hit a three, you can hit them anywhere. The Gonzaga Bulldogs are able to hit threes to the tune of 38.7%. Corey Kispert leads the Bulldogs by making 44% of his 5.5 three-pointers per game.
Killian Tillie and Drew Timmie to a lesser extent have had their way with WCC big men this season, in turn, creating more room for the likes of Kispert and even Ryan Woolridge. In addition, they only take 19.4 three-pointers per game, which speaks to their success inside the paint.
Just as they are careful with their shot selection, the Bulldogs are careful with the ball when it is in their possession. At just 11.3 turnovers per game, the Bulldogs waste very few possessions which always allows their defense an opportunity to get back to protect the basket in a timely fashion.
This will help when they play against non-WCC teams who will be more capable of playing at their 72.5 possessions per game pace-of-play, or against teams that are better suited to force turnovers. If they are able to keep this stat line consistent, then their march to the Final Four is clear.
