5. Evansville shocks Rupp Arena. (Nov. 12th)

Just a few days after Tyrese Maxey exploded onto the scene against Michigan State and the team’s subsequent domination of Eastern Kentucky, the Kentucky Wildcats were upended in what would be well-known as the biggest upset of the season. On Nov. 17th, it was the K.J. Riley and Sam Cunliffe Show in Rupp Arena. The visiting Evansville Aces were coached at the time by a former Wildcat in Walt McCarty and they were able to come away with the shocking upset.

This upset made plenty of headlines at the time but continued to resonate throughout this year. Kentucky went on to finish the season at 25-6 but that home loss to Evansville continued to haunt its resume. This was compounded by the fact that the Aces went 0-19 in Missouri Valley Conference play as the season continued.

6. Haws wins it at the buzzer. (Nov. 15th)

T.J. Haws was a highly-touted recruit out of high school as he was ranked at No. 54 in the 2014 high school class. During his first three years with BYU, he was a rock-solid contributor averaging double-digit points per game in each season. The same would be said about this senior season for Haws and he certainly started it off with a bang. In BYU’s fourth game of the season, the 6-foot-4 guard hit every single part of the rim en route to a road victory over Houston. He finished the game with 10 points on 4-for-13 shooting but it’s that one buzzer-beater that is memorable.

BYU suffered through a bit of an up-and-down non-conference slate even with this victory. While having to play without star big man Yoeli Childs, the Cougars started the year just 6-4. From there, though, the team dominated and finished the season 24-8 and ranked at No. 13 in the country by KenPom. This early-season game-winner by Haws is just one memory of a special season in Provo.
