. . Nittany Lions . 8. team. 491.

MVP – Lamar Stevens

Stevens has been one of the best players that nobody talks about. He has been the guy that has helped the Nittany Lions to respectability despite not having a lot around him. He averaged double-figure points all four years he was at Penn State. He did all of this even though most teams set up their gameplan to stop him.

This year he scored 17.6 points and 6.9 rebounds per game to help the Nittany Lions reach heights they haven’t seen in a long time. They did stumble down the stretch but he had Penn State near the top of the BIg Ten for large parts of the year. He is going to be a guy that Penn State fans are going to hate to lose but the rest of the Big Ten is going to be glad he is gone.

Best Moment – Being ranked in the top 10

It had been since 1996 since the Nittany Lions were ranked in the top ten and had only happened twice in the history of the program. But in February after a blowout win over Northwestern Penn State found themselves ranked number nine in the country.

A lot of experts expected Penn State to be better this year, but few could have expected them to climb so high. It was a short-lived time in the top ten as the Nittany Lions would struggle after that ranking came out but for one week they could relish in the fact that they had made the top ten. For Penn State fans it is something that they don’t get to experience very often and they hope it is something they will see again before another 25 years passes.
