Villanova vs. Penn State

The Penn State Nittany Lions have always owned the state of Pennsylvania in football. Basketball is a different story, however. Penn State was last in the NCAA Tournament in 2011. Since then, they have been forced to just sit back and watch as Villanova made 7 straight tournament appearances and win two National Championships between 2013 and 2019. Villanova was, of course, going to be in the field again, and this was surely going to be Penn State’s year to be back in it with them. The only problem is, cancellation of the NCAA Tournament took that opportunity away.

Now, NCAA basketball fans, and of course Penn State fans, are going to have to wait a little longer before having the chance to see these two schools go at it in the big dance. That is a bummer considering the fact that this would have made for a very interesting Second Round matchup.

The Wildcats of Villanova were once again one of the top teams in the Big East, despite the fact that they haven’t performed as well as in recent years, where a couple of their seasons ended in them cutting down the nets and winning the National Title. Penn State, on the other hand, made a huge turn around relative to their performances of years past and found themselves sitting near the top of the Big Ten Conference.

In this game, Penn State would have come in with all of the momentum and mindset to show that they are the top NCAA basketball team in Pennsylvania. Villanova was going to come in with the experience and an attitude that showed they had been there before. A game such as this would have been wild, and I have a feeling it would have gotten chippy.
