NCAA basketball recruiting might hit a bit of a standstill with the coronavirus spreading. Who are the top players already committed from the 2021 class?
With the 2019-20 NCAA basketball season now in the rearview mirror, it is time transition to covering the recruiting trail. Of course, many programs will be prioritizing their current 2020 targets as those prospects will take the court during this coming season and are therefore of the utmost importance. With that said, though, a few squads have already completed those classes or are simply looking ahead to who they can snag from the following age group.
Unsurprisingly, there are several prospects from the 2021 class that have already elected to make their collegiate decisions. For the programs that have these commitments in tow, they are definitely ahead of the curve compared to most. This is especially important to note this season as AAU events have postponed (at least) for the time being. This limits the ability of coaches to scout prospects and already having secured a commitment or two is a huge leg-up.
Which early commits, though, are the most highly-rated at this point? As the recruiting season begins to ramp up (even in a current dead period), I averaged the current rankings from the Rivals150 and Top247 to determine which 15 prospects are the top early commits from the 2020 class.
Where are these players headed and what might they be able to bring to their schools in the near future? Let’s dive in.
