Purdue has been remarkably consistent with head coach Matt Painter at the helm and that doesn’t appear to be changing anytime soon. The veteran coach is currently in the midst of landing one of his best classes ever in 2020 and has also struck early in 2021 with one of the best in-state products available. “The Hoosier State” is a hotbed of talent at the moment and landing a forward of Caleb Furst‘s caliber puts the Boilermakers in great shape for the future.

An all-around rock-solid player with few flaws, Furst seems like the perfect fit for Purdue. He runs the floor well, can knock down mid-range jumpers, defends a couple of positions, and is an unselfish teammate that displays strong passing out of the frontcourt. While he might not boast any truly elite skills, he does a lot of things well as a very consistent contributor. You know you can go to him for baskets in the paint and rebounds on both ends.

Purdue has a long history of success with talented frontcourt pieces and Furst should fit that mold as well. The Boilermakers already have an impressive backcourt committed in the 2020 class with big playmaker Ethan Morton and sensational shot-maker Jaden Ivey (who shared the court with Furst on their AAU team – Indy Heat).

Purdue has an excellent and exciting core for the future that should grow into a Big Ten contender.
