First-round blowout

With Louisville sitting No. 8 in the NET, all they would need to do in order to remain and ultimately get on the two-line is to make it to the ACC tournament’s semi-final game. With Kansas being the No.1 seed overall and the opportunity to choose their region, they would choose the Midwest Region in order to play the Regional Finals in Indiana. As a two seed,  or even as a #3, there would be an opportunity that the Selection Committee would keep Louisville close to home during the first weekend and put the Cardinals in the West Region so they would play in St.louis.

Being that close to home would make it a short trip for the traveling Cardinals’ fans and as a 2 or even 3 seed, they would play a team such as; UC Irvine, Colgate or Little Rock. When you combine those two ingredients you have a recipe for the Cardinals’ to have their largest first-round margin of victory.

In 1992 Dwayne Morton scored 20 points and led #8 seeded Louisville to a 23-point win over Wake Forest, establishing the largest margin of victory in the first round. Even without knowing the opponent, the 2019-20 Louisville Cardinals have the ability to eclipse that mark.

Next. 10 teams hurt most by no NCAA Tournament. dark

During the season the Cardinals have shown the ability to easily defeat inferior opponents. They have won four games by more than 23 points, and just in case their defense is not up to par, they have scored more than 85 points seven times this year. Plus, if Nwora is going to score 33 points and McMahon is going to hit 8 threes in a game, there is a good chance they will win by 24. In a perfect world, it all happens in the same game.
