UConn currently has twelve scholarship players for the 2020-21 season, they have one scholarship available and have reportedly been reaching out to players in the transfer portal to fill it. Here are six transfers that could join UConn basketball for next year.

With the departure of Christian Vital and the transfer of Alterique Gilbert UConn have an unused scholarship heading into next season. Talent is abundant in the transfer portal right now and that’s a perfect opportunity for UConn Basketball to find a player that can contribute immediately, especially if they can add another scorer.

Two incoming freshmen are joining the Huskies for next year, four-star small forward Andre Jackson and the 6-11 center Javonte Brown-Ferguson who reclassified from the class of 2021.

UConn will return to the Big East next season, a considerable step up in talent from the American Athletic Conference. Dan Hurley will be looking for a player that can step in and fill an important role for next year, especially with Tyler Polley recovering from an ACL tear this offseason and Akok Akok doubtful for the beginning of next season.

Coaches have had to get creative in recruiting given the circumstances, having to reach out over the phone to pitch to the transfers, Jon Rothstein reported some coaches were giving tours of their facilities via Facetime and Zoom since the recruits are not allowed on campus right now.

For UConn the rebuild continues, Dan Hurley has the program moving in an exciting direction and the addition of a big-time transfer would bring even more excitement to UConn as they prepare to return to life in the Big East. Here are six guys UConn has reached out to so far that are in the transfer portal and what kind of impact they would have for the program.
