NCAA Basketball: Mock 2020 NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen predictions
Just 16 NCAA Basketball teams remain in Busting Brackets’ own mock NCAA Tournament. Which ones remain for another round into the Elite 8?
There have been a number of simulations of what would’ve been the 2020 NCAA Tournament. For us, we’ve done two rounds so far, presenting our own Round of 64 and Round of 32 sets of picks. We didn’t have as many upsets in the first round but saw several big NCAA Basketball programs fall in the second round.
Just like the first two rounds, our process is simple. After using Lukas Harkins’ projected Bracketology Field of 68 (since there was no Selection Sunday), Busting Brackets’ own staff our talented writers, putting three in a pod for each game. Each contributor makes their own prediction for the game and whichever team gets at least two predicted wins, moves on. Using more than three at this point makes the odds of an upset less likely.
After the upsets from the last round, here are our Sweet 16 matchups:
South Region
1) Kansas vs 4) Louisville
6) Virginia vs 7) Houston
West Region
1) Gonzaga vs 4) Oregon
2) San Diego State vs 3) Seton Hall
Midwest Region
1) Baylor vs 4) Kentucky
6) Penn State vs 7) Illinois
East Region
1) Dayton vs 12) Yale
2) Florida State vs 3) Michigan State
All four No. 1 seeds remain to this point but who will make it to the Final Four? Can Yale make a Cinderella run any further against fellow mid-major Dayton? And speaking of mid-majors, will that make up the West Region final? Find out now as we break down, and ultimately predict each Sweet 16 game.
