4. Belmont Bruins

Another year, another dominant season in the Ohio Valley Conference for the Belmont Bears. Despite their future HOF coach Rick Byrd retiring before the season, the Bears performed just as well as they had been under Byrd this season with their new head coach, Casey Alexander, going 15-3 and winning the OVC regular-season title.

Alexander also picked up right where Byrd left off in producing one of the most watchable offenses in the entire nation. One of the only teams in college to embrace the analytics movement in basketball, the Bears under Alexander ranked inside the top 50 in every single Watchability stat, including 11th in Assist Rate and 14th in Effective FG%.

Belmont’s analytics-based teamwork-oriented offense is an absolute joy to watch and has made the squad one of the most successful mid-majors in recent history. And with only 2 seniors getting consistent minutes in his rotation, the sudden cancellation of the NCAA season will not be the end of the world for Coach Alexander, and his Bears will continue to be one of the most watchable teams in the nation next season.
