ACC Basketball Recruiting: Duke adds to 2020 class, Tony Sanders joins Notre Dame

Other ACC recruiting news

  • Virginia Tech offered 2022 wing Cam Whitmore (Odenton, MD) on April 2. Whitmore also holds offers from Towson and UMBC.
  • Virginia Tech offered 2021 point guard Tyrone Washington (Phoenix) on April 3. Washington holds 23 scholarship offers with Creighton, Ole Miss, and Saint Louis being the latest schools to offer the 6-4 point guard.
  • Miami offered four-star 2021 forward Julian Reese (Owings Mills, MD) on April 1. Reese is ranked as the112th prospect in the nation by 247Sports and 105th by 247SportsComposite. The 6-10 junior averaged 10.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks for St. Francis Academy this past season. He currently holds nine offers with George Washington, Seton Hall, and Virginia Tech, also showing him lots of love.
  • 4-plus star 2021 small forward Harrison Ingram received an offer Louisville on March 29. Ingram is rated as a five-star recruit by Rivals ( No. 13) and 247Sports Composite (No. 17). Meanwhile, ESPN has him at No. 19, and 247Sports has him at No. 20. Ingram holds 22 total offers.
  • Malachi Pondexter agreed to join the Virginia Cavaliers in 2020-21 as a preferred walk-on on March 28. Pondexter averaged12.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.1 steals a game for St. Anne’s-Belfield this past season. Virginia does not currently have a scholarship available for 2020.
  • Pitt women basketball team gained one transfer and lost one transfer over the last couple of days. The Panthers have brought in 2019 Mountain West Freshman of the Year Jayla Edwards, who averaged 11.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.4 assists this season at New Mexico. However, cancer survivor Kyla Palmer has decided to enter the transfer portal. Palmer, who underwent successful surgery to remove cancer cells in October, appeared in just four games after returning to action in December. The 5-11 guard played in 30 games as a freshman and sophomore. The Panthers are coming off a 5-26 season, which includes posting a 1-17 record during ACC play.

  • Three-star center Naheem McCleod will attend Chipola College (Florida) next year and then head to Florida State, where he will have three seasons of eligibility. The 7-foot-3 big man was expected to join the Seminoles this past season, but he “didn’t meet NCAA requirements for enrollment.” He joins guard Bryce McGowens, who is the younger brother of former Pitt guard Trey McGowens, as members of the FSU 2021 recruiting class.
