The early signing period came and gone for NCAA Basketball. What are the most notable takeaways from the programs and their early work as we head into the offseason?
The 2019-20 NCAA Basketball came to a close early but that doesn’t stop the work going on the recruiting trail. Even though players can’t go on official visits to the schools, there are virtual tours and many phone/video conversations going on.
The schools have been setting themselves up off the court during this time, mainly from the recruiting trail. If you do well in this department, even in one specific class of players, it can transcend an NCAA Basketball team. It also can keep the status quo of the top teams in the country, including the likes of Duke and Kentucky.
For the 2020 NCAA Basketball recruiting class, the early signing period wrapped up a couple of months ago (Nov. 20). Although the recruits who have verbally committed to their respective teams can officially sign their letters of intent, they can easily get out of it later on if they change their minds. The schools technically can force them to stay but the negative public relations that come from that scenario are never worth it.
There is still plenty to be taken care of regarding the rest of the 2020 class, including the destinations of three of the top 11 uncommitted players. But for now, there is a lot to be taken away from what has happened thus far – both good and bad. Here are 10 specifics I took away from the recruiting saga.
