Alabama Basketball’s roster for 2020-21 looks much different now than it did two weeks ago and there’s a good chance it could look even more different in two weeks than it does right now. But what does the roster look like right now?

Alabama Basketball has been killing it on the recruiting front in the past couple weeks as they have added Josh Primo, Keon Ellis and Darius Miles. In addition to that, the Tide are still in the running for Yale transfer Jordan Bruner and Ohio State transfer Luther Muhammad.

So before we get too far into this, let’s take a look at the 2020-21 roster as of April 7th:

In addition to each of these players, Kira Lewis, John Petty and Herb Jones are each still eligible to return as well. If I had to guess, I would think Lewis will likely keep his name in the draft and Petty and Jones will likely be returning.

This means Alabama would have 14 players on scholarship with only 13 scholarships to give out AND they’re still heavily in the running for Bruner and Muhammad, as mentioned earlier.

What this means is that Alabama would need at least one scholarship player to transfer out. Who that would become a little more of a question. One player that wouldn’t come as much of a surprise is Jaylen Forbes.

Forbes committed to Alabama as a three-star guard and in the Class of 2019 and in 2019-20 he averaged only 10.4 minutes per game. This being said, if someone were to transfer, my money might be on him due to the fact that he might get more playing time elsewhere.

Other players that wouldn’t completely shock me are Javian Davis and Galin Smith, but we will have to wait and see who, if anyone, transfers.

Nonetheless, Alabama now has the 15th ranked recruiting class for the Class of 2020 according to 247 Sports. That recruiting class is added onto several highly ranked transfers like Jahvon Quinerly, Keon Ellis and James Rojas who will see action in Tuscaloosa for the first time next season.

Alabama basketball has the opportunity to make some serious noise next season and I would fully expect them to contend for the SEC title, especially if they get Lewis, Petty or Jones back and if they add Bruner and/or Muhammad as well.
