Jamarius Burton is one of the better players in the NCAA Basketball transfer portal. Which teams are in the running to land the guard?
There are various reasons why players elect to enter the NCAA Basketball transfer portal. Some look for more playing time, different roles or leave a tough situation. The third option is the case for Jamarius Burton, who left the Wichita State Shockers after two seasons as a starter.
Burton was the lead ball-handler for the team, leading Wichita State in assists these past two years. In this season, in particular, the 6’4 guard’s offense took a jump, going from 6.0 ppg as a freshman to 10.3 this season. The shooting numbers took a major leap, making 44% Burton’s overall shots and going 24/63 (38%) from three-point range.
After going 23-8 (11-7) this past season, it looked as if the Shockers had a foundation for seasons to come. However, seven players, including Burton, left the team and entered the portal. Rumors swirled as to what happened but clearly, the individuals decided a change was needed.
Wichita State transfer Jamarius Burton is now down to four finalists, he tells @Stockrisers: Xavier, Texas Tech, Seton Hall and Marquette. He’s still unsure of his decision timetable.

Ohio State was the fifth finalist but landed Jimmy Sotos yesterday.
Some have found new homes such as Erik Stevenson going to Washington, while others are taking their time. But with the announcement of a final group of four, it looks as if Burton may be making a decision soon.
Interestingly enough, the four listed finalists are going after other transfers simultaneously, affecting what Burton may end up doing. But taking the current information, here’s a look at where the former Wichita State guard may fit with all four programs.
