NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing transfer Luther Muhammad’s 8 teams
Luther Muhammad has entered the NCAA Basketball transfer portal, with a ton of suitors. Which teams are in the running the land the shooting guard?
Currently, the NCAA Basketball graduate transfers who are in the portal are getting plenty of attention. Which makes sense, since they’ll have a big impact on the upcoming season and not have to sit out. But for players such as Luther Muhammad, they’ll have to wait a year to have the same kind of impact.
Ranked as a four-star prospect in the top-100 overall in 2018, Muhammad was the centerpiece of Chris Holtmann’s first recruiting class at Ohio State. He had an impact out the gate, averaging 7.6 ppg on 37% shooting from the field as a starter. The 6’3 guard started as a sophomore as well this past season and put up roughly the same results. However, Muhammad was very inconsistent on the offensive end, with 14 games of scoring six or fewer points. He was also suspended for a game during the season for “failure to meet program standards and expectations.”
In the end, Muhammad made the decision to transfer from the Buckeyes, looking for a new start. It’s been said that the guard wants a better role in an offense that can maximize his talents. Even though his own offense may still be in the works, Muhammad is considered to be one of the top individual defenders in all of college basketball. That’s why he had a ton of offers once he entered the portal.
These were the eight teams that made the cut for Muhammad. But which one is the best fit for him and his desires. Here’s a detailed look at each option and what they have for the sit-out transfer.
