San Francisco graduate transfer Charles Minlend is among the most highly sought-after players in the portal. How would he fit with his seven finalists?

The transfer market has once again been flooded by a ton of talented players this offseason and programs across the country are seeking upgrades at some of their most important positions. With the uncertainty regarding whether or not the one-time transfer waiver rule will go into effect prior to the 2020-21 season, there is currently only one way for coaches to secure immediately-eligible players. That is by traversing the graduate transfer waters.

While there are many available grads on the market, few are as proven as Charles Minlend Jr. out of San Francisco. A 6-foot-4 guard fresh off three consecutive seasons averaging in double-figures for an underrated program, it should come as no surprise to hear that several high-majors instantly reached out to Minlend.

He averaged 14.5 points (.416/.295/.667), 4.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.0 steals per game over the past two seasons while being named to the All-WCC Second Team after each campaign.

Minlend has elected to enter the transfer portal for his final season of eligibility and has also already made the move to narrow his list of potential destinations to seven. His current group of teams is limited to jut Arizona, Arkansas, Butler, BYU, Gonzaga, Indiana, and Mississippi State. While two of these programs reside in the same conference as San Francisco, the other five would represent jumps in regular-season competition level.

Minlend is clearly going to be a priority for these seven in the coming days/weeks, so let’s take a dive into how he might fit at each of the programs for his final year.
