Alabama Basketball: Tide adds quality grad transfer Jordan Bruner
Alabama Basketball has added yet another transfer in Yale’s Jordan Bruner. With the addition of Bruner, the Tide are a legitimate threat in the SEC.
Alabama basketball keeps getting better week by week and they did so by adding yet another transfer in big man Jordan Bruner. Bruner is a 6’9″ 205lb forward who averaged 10.9 points, 9.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists for the Yale Bulldogs last season.
Bruner will be the fourth transfer to see the court for the first time next season as a member of the Alabama Crimson Tide. Jahvon Quinerly and James Rojas transferred to Alabama before last season but Quinerly failed to get an immediate eligibility waiver and Rojas suffered an injury ending his season before it started.
In addition to these two Alabama also added Keon Ellis last week, a JUCO transfer from Florida Southwestern College. Bruner is also Nate Oats’ fifth transfer in his two years at Alabama, as he also added James ‘Beetle’ Bolden last season.
With the addition of Bruner here is Alabama’s updated roster as of April 10th:
- Josh Primo
- Keon Ambrose
- Darius Miles
- Jaden Shackelford
- Juwan Gary
- Jaylen Forbes
- Adam Cottrell
- Sam Okauru
- Javian Davis
- Jahvon Quinerly
- Britton Johnson
- James Rojas
- Galin Smith
- Alex Reese
- Keon Ellis
- Jordan Bruner
- Tyler Barnes
In addition to that, Kira Lewis, John Petty and Herb Jones are all eligible to return and the Tide are still in contention for Ohio State transfer, Luther Muhammad.
The question now becomes, who transfers assuming at least one of those four players suits up for the Tide next season? With the addition of Bruner, Alabama has 13 scholarship players on the roster at this very moment which is fine, but if Jones, Lewis or Petty comes back or if they add Muhammad they’ll be at 14, meaning they’ll have one too many scholarships given out.
As mentioned earlier this week, if only one player has to transfer my money would be on Jaylen Forbes who didn’t play as much as he would’ve liked in his freshman year with Alabama. After that, the two players I would keep my eye on would be Javian Davis and Galin Smith.
Nonetheless, Alabama is in for an exciting year with a star-powered roster that will make some waves in the Southeastern Conference. If nothing else changes the Crimson Tide has a chance to be a top-four or five team in the SEC, but if they make a couple more moves, they could be a serious threat not only in the conference but outside it as well.
