Stetson Basketball has no history and has never made a postseason tournament. Head coach Donnie Jones hopes to ride his star sophomore Rob Perry to their first Postseason appearance.

Stetson basketball has never been a model of consistency and they just experienced their most wins since the 2007-2008 season with 16. The Hatters were much improved in year one under new head coach Donnie Jones. The recruiting class that Jones brought in last season is a large part of the Stetson resurgence. The Hatters are one of the teams that have never made the NCAA tournament. The Hatters have never made a single postseason tournament at the Division 1 level.

Stetson doubled their win total from a season ago and finished in the top half of the Atlantic Sun Conference. Stetson finished in a tie for third place which they have done a few other times most recently the 2012-2013 season. That is the most success the Hatters have had in their Atlantic Sun history. The Hatters have also never experienced a winning season during their time in the Atlantic Sun. Their last winning season as a basketball team was in 2000-2001. Coach Jones has recruited well enough that he hopes to change that quickly.

Sophomore guard Rob Perry is the one expected to lead the charge this year and into the future for Stetson. Hatter fans hope Perry can help this team gain some positive momentum in the years to come and hopefully get them into some sort of postseason tournament. Stetson gave everyone an early preview of just how dangerous this team has the potential to be. They went into Columbia, South Carolina and beat South Carolina on their home floor.

It was one of the biggest upsets’ college basketball last season and the Hatters were able to gain some momentum because of it. Along with Perry, the Hatters return two more dynamic Sophomores to make up one of the better trios in the Atlantic Sun.
