9) College of Charleston
After a 2018 NCAA tournament appearance and a relativity successful 2019 season, Charleston certainly had high hopes for the season. The Cougars rounded out the year 17-14 with an 11-7 conference record, taking a slight step back from the previous season.
Charleston relied almost solely on senior guard Grant Riller. Riller put up some massive numbers, 21.9 points, 5.3 boards, and 3.9 assists per game, with a usage rate that was 17th in all of college basketball. The Cougars will also be without graduating starters, Jaylen McManus and Sam Miller.
The good news is that second-leading scorer Brevin Galloway is set to return to school next year. Galloway put up a little over eleven points a game last year for the Cougars. Galloway is going to be expected to fill Grant Riller’s role. But filling a future NBA draft picks role is no easy task.
Head coach Earl Grant was able to bring in Minnesota transfer guard Payton Willis. Willis averaged close to nine points and pulled down three boards a game. Taking a step down in competition, Willis should be able to give the Cougars a lot of productivity.
