4) Northeastern
The 2019 CAA tournament champions had a very up and down 2019-2020 campaign, to say the least. The season was filled with a bunch of little win streaks and losing streaks off on all year-long. The Huskies rounded out the year just 17-16 and were still a game away from clinching back to back NCAA tournament bids.
Jordan Roland‘s back had to be on fire from carrying the team all year. The 21.3 points per game scorer had one of the highest usages rates in all of college basketball. The Huskies will also be without Bolden Brace their main rebounder. And a guy who contributed a little over ten points a night.
The Huskies are known for bringing in transfers and this off-season was no different. Former Notre Dame forward Chris Doherty announced he will be attending Northeastern next season. Doherty is a lengthy swingman who can stretch the floor with his shooting and can put the ball on the floor all the way to rim. Doherty will have to wait and see if he will be granted immediate eligibility next year.
Northeastern will be bringing back all CAA freshman first-teamer Tyson Walker. Walker put up double figures scoring and lead the team in assists. Walker showed glimpses last year with some monster performances including a 32 point outing vs Elon earlier in the year. Wouldn’t surprise anybody if Walker fills in the void Rolands will leave on the program.
