UMass Lowell Basketball has had little to no success at the Division 1 level. The hope is that star guard Obadiah Noel can change that for the upcoming season.

Lowell is the fourth largest city in the state of Massachusetts, it is 30 miles from Boston and it is also the home to the UMass-Lowell River Hawks basketball team. The River Hawks were an extremely successful Division II team and won a National Championship at that level in 1988. Since the transition to the America East conference in 2013, Lowell has had a hard time replicating the success they found at the Division II level.

Anyone that follows the sport knows that the America East conference has been dominated by one team and that is the Vermont Catamounts. The thing that many may not know is that each team in this conference has its fair share of great players and potential breakout stars. It has been mentioned how much Lowell has struggled in the America East. The school has been trending upwards and been creeping ever closer to the .500 overall mark, which they have yet to achieve in the Division 1 ranks. They have not been short on stars the last few seasons and heading into next year they have their own breakout star.

Obadiah Noel enters his senior year as a River Hawk as one of the best players in the America East conference. The guard is going to be the go-to guy this year and is hoping to help finally close the gap in the America East conference for the River Hawks. Noel and still maintain his eligibility. It is believed he will return to Lowell for his senior season for one final season in the America East.
