Virginia basketball has yet another strong recruiting class coming in for the 2020-21 season. How might the newcomers make a difference in Charlottesville?

Virginia basketball has emerged as one of the best programs in the nation under the leadership of head coach Tony Bennett. Seemingly from the instant that he took over at the helm of the program, the Cavaliers started to rise as a powerhouse program in the ACC. Coach Bennett immediately led a defensive explosion in Charlottesville and that resulted in a meteoric rise in national prominence and the cutting down of the nets as the 2019 national champions.

Looking ahead to the future, Virginia looks to be in excellent shape as it should continue to be an annual national title contender. At the core of this optimism is the fact that Coach Bennett is poised to be the leader of the program for the foreseeable future. He is one of the best tacticians in all of college basketball and that is evident in his Xs-and-Os as well as his abilities on the recruiting trail. He knows the type of player that he wants on his roster and has built this program on “fit.”

His philosophies on “fit” are the main reason why Virginia’s incoming freshman class is so exciting to many. The trio of commits all pop on film in the way that they can contribute on both ends of the floor and are dedicated to consistent development. Considering this complete class is ranked at No. 14 in the nation, all of these commits are all highly-rated prospects, but that isn’t the only reason why this group could bring continued success to Charlottesville.

This article will dive into each of Virginia’s three incoming freshmen to determine what they might bring to the program, respectively. (This piece only takes into account the recruiting class, not the incoming transfers of Sam Hauser and Trey Murphy.) So, without any further ado, which youngsters make up the future of the Cavaliers?
