Saint Bonaventure Basketball has added a couple of newcomers for the 2020 class. Here’s a look at a former JUCO star in Eddie Creal.

Mark Schmidt has been at the helm of Saint Bonaventure Basketball for 13 seasons. He has a record of 221-173 this is good enough for a winning percentage of 56.1%.  This statistic should be able to speak volumes about what Schmidt has been able to do on the recruiting trails In those 13 years.

The assistance of Associate Head Coach Steve Curran has certainly allowed some of the most underrated mid-major prospects to come to campus and flourish in the brown and white. One of the most notable recruits in recent history is Jaylen Adams. Adams was a primary part of a hot streak for the Bonnies in recent history. The streak is what allowed the Bonnies to solidify themselves as great.

After he solidified himself as one of the greatest players to ever wear the uniform the top-notch recruits began pouring into Schmidt’s lap. Despite trying times the staff of the brown and white have made impressive strides in hitting the trails.  The transfer portal has seen unprecedented activity since the onset of Covid-19. To no surprise, the boss has taken advantage of this growth and has been able to bring in some eye-catching players to continue building a dynasty within the doors of the Reilly Center.

Busting Brackets dove deep into the Freshman class and the transfer portal to find the three must-watch rising stars down the stretch for the Bonnies. This is part of a series which will unveil three must-watch assets from each class.

Often times Junior College players are overlooked because of a slew of stereotypes surround JUCO recruits. Much to the praise of those who know the A-10 well, Schmidt utilized his skills to bring in a kid who was overlooked in 6-4 guard Eddie Creal from Jolliet, Illinois. Creal averaged 15.1 PPG shooting 58.1% on the year. Although his size is small he has a quickness that will be tough to match, he also has a unique skill set that will help the Bonnies execute well.

Creal earned praise from the boss when he said “He is an attacking wing that can score at all three levels, is a lockdown defender and can compete on the offensive glass. We look forward to getting him on campus with the rest of our guys.”

He offers a whole new level of quickness on both ends of the floor. To go with that quickness he offers the ability to shoot from all three levels on the hardwood. I am particularly interested to see how he compliments Osun Osunniyi on the defensive side of the ball.

Next. Early A-10 offseason storylines. dark

If the stars align like it looks like they should, the Bonnies found the piece they needed to tie up some loose ends. The Bonnies certainly found the right balance between the scholarship players with full eligibility and transfers. Stay tuned to Busting Brackets for your latest information.
