Posh Alexander (Bronx, NY)

PG | 5-foot-11 | 170 lbs | No. 206 overall recruit

Posh Alexander appears to be the most exciting prospect in this recruiting class for St. John’s. Although his recruiting ranking has plummeted significantly since being ranked in the Top 50 of the entire class, Alexander is still a very talented player and deserves plenty of hype. Alexander’s drop in ranking partially coincided with missing time due to a broken arm but he has worked extremely hard to get back to his prior form.

Alexander plays with an outstanding motor on the court and it is vital to mention that Alexander could be the perfect fit in SJU’s new system. He is a tad undersized at just 5-foot-11 but is a dedicated defender with the ability to hound opposing ball-handlers and force turnovers. Alexander should be able to thrive in Coach Anderson’s pressure-heavy defensive scheme (much like he did at OSL) and he can also make his impact on the other end as well.

When it comes to his contributions offensively, Alexander is a solid, up-tempo playmaker that can score at all three levels as well. He’s quite bouncy around the rim to make up for his size and has been improving as a perimeter threat as well. Alexander is out to prove that he can be a star at the collegiate level and he could be poised to play a major role from Day 1 for St. John’s as the team needs a strong playmaker.

Alexander is a flat-out producer on the court and he should outshine his recruiting ranking now that he is healthy and will also be competing in what could be an ideal situation for him to succeed.  He was a finalist for New York’s Mr. Basketball after his senior season was completed.

As already mentioned, Alexander has a strong connection with fellow 2020 commit Dylan Wusu as they have played together in AAU and high school. They are a duo that has the Red Storm faithful quite excited about the future and it will be interesting to see how they can impact the team right away as freshmen.
